Christy Michalak is an award-winning Ontario artist who began her oil painting career at the age of five, split her professional life between painting and an aerospace engineering career, and has recently come back full circle to focus on her life-long passion.
In all of her works, she strives to capture the greater spiritual context. Landscapes act as metaphorical representations of our human journey, as well as an invitation to step out of the chaos of daily life and into a moment of peace. A portrait is about capturing the beauty of the subject, but also communicates where the subject is in their own life journey. As such her paintings are often referred to as ethereal, other-worldly, fantasy-like, and full of resonance.
When not in her studio, Christy can be found teaching oil painting or joining the local plein air artists to capture the Canadian country-side.
Her work has been recognized in juried shows and competitions around Ontario, and appears in private collections in Canada, the USA, and Europe.
